A mum of 3 children (2 humans and 1 whippet), wife, daughter and runner – not necessarily in that order.
I started running 9 years ago…well I shuffled not very far a few times a week, walking, jogging and just about getting around the route and from that point I’ve never looked back. Running is a huge part of my life and I can’t imagine my life without running being a part of it. It has completed me…I know that sounds very zen and spiritual, but it really has. Running has made me mentally healthier and a much stronger person. I have made some of the best of friends who have given me new experiences, running different places, cycling and open water swimming (big shout out to Lake 32 Forest crew, my running buddies and long-suffering cycling companion has put up with my moaning in the saddle – cycling is not my thing but it’s a must for triathlons so I have to learn to love it at some point) we all have the same thing in common, not understanding why we do this to ourselves and still doing it anyway and loving every minute…mostly after crossing the finish line!
Some of the challenges I’ve completed include races of differing lengths from 5k’s to marathons & triathlons, all have brought some varying emotions during training – euphoria, crying, frustration, calmness but most of all huge happiness – I want everyone to experience this and fall in love with this sport just as I have.
My proper job is an Event Manager, organising anything from tours, corporate & team building events, stag & hen parties to weddings. I started an annual 5k charity mud run in 2017 from my workplace, Hillside Brewery, and love organising this so I’ve just taken this up a level by searching new routes and starting Finish Line Events. I love the Forest of Dean, I run, cycle and walk the trails all year round, it never bores me, the wildlife, ever-changing colours and textures – it’s just awesome!
The plan going forward is to find new trail runs and share all of these with you….so keep an eye on our pages – Facebook and website, you can sign up to the Finish Line Events newsletter to be the first to hear of the new races and general updates, so you can run them with us!
